Point Data Server provides exceptional control over access rights assigned to individuals and groups. For example, template access rights can be granted down to specific templates, ensuring that only those who need templates or are authorized to edit them can do so.

Processor Intel Pentium 4 processor (3.0 GHz or higher)

Memory (RAM) 1GB of RAM (2GB recommended)

Storage 20GB of available hard disk space (may vary according to number of Point Data Folders)

Operating System Recommended: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (including R2) Standard or Enterprise Edition with Server Role: ‘Application Server’ (IIS, ASP.NET) and latest Service Pack

Also Supported: Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server with (IIS, ASP.NET) and latest Service Pack

NOTE: PDS requires x86 versions of Windows Server Standard or Enterprise Editions. To use PDS with 64 bit versions of Windows Server 2003 requires modification of IIS—click here for details. PDS should not be used on a Windows Server machine acting as a Domain Controller or an Exchange Server. Installations of PDS contrary to these restrictions will not be eligible for support.

SQL Server Recommended, particularly for large organizations: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Workgroup, Standard or Enterprise Edition with latest Service Pack

Smaller organizations may use: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with latest Service Pack

Also supported: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with latest Service Pack

Supported only when upgrading from PDS 5.1: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000) with latest Service Pack

Connectivity For Point 6.1 clients to connect to Point Data Server over the Internet, the server must have the following:
Domain name
SSL Certificate installed in the IIS Default web site matching the domain name
SSL (HTTPS) protocol connectivity from Point clients to the PDS Server

Software Point version 6.1

Operating System Computer running Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, or Microsoft Vista (all operating systems must have the latest Service Pack)
